The Housewives

On April 15th, I took part in a John Casablancas BYOB. No, it does not stand for "Bring Your Own Booze," it stands for "Build Your Own Book." Before the BYOB, a fashion student must be paired with a hair stylist, make-up artist, model and photographer in order to create something worthy of being published to String Magazine. Usually the photographer is a professional working in the industry but JCI was short one photographer so I recommended my best friend, Sam. Luckily, he was paired with me, which was fortunate because we make a brilliant team. Now that we had our team, the next thing point of order was to come up with a concept and theme for our photoshoot. With a little bit of brainstorming we came up with two themes, which were colour blocking and 50's housewives. In order to make the 50's housewife come to life we decided that she should be doing typical 50's housewife chores. So the week before the BYOB, Sam and I searched high and low through our houses to find props that could be useful. At the end of our searches we had generated an iron, an ironing board, a vintage arm chair, a ceramic pastel coloured cat, a watering can, and a cherry pie. While this whole shoot was a lot of work, and a lot of heavy lifting, I was extremely pleased with the outcome. I am incredibly thankful to have had such a wonderful team and now I suppose we just wait and see what happens with these pictures.
